Thank you for visiting our website to learn more about how ALCEMIS can help you, your team(s) and your organization improve performance and achieve sustainable growth!
ALCEMIS was born out of my quest to be authentic, to bring imagination and creativity out of myself and others, to help leaders improve their leadership competencies and to spur sustainable growth.
I prefer change over the status quo because I believe it helps one to grow and move forward. Interestingly, in my personal life, I have come to realize that I actually allowed myself to be held back in many ways over the years, even though I changed in many ways too. Yet, the holding back was most prevalent in my quest to know and accept myself and to let my light shine (to bring my gifts to the world). One of my favorite passages is from Marianne Williamson:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?… Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do… And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Since I was quite young, I struggled to understand where my own sadness came from and the implications for my responsibilities as an adult who desires to live life with purposeful intent. In December 2009, I had an “a-ha” that has led to a large transformation in my soul, allowing me to let go of what has held me back – to let go of what I no longer need.
I am beginning to look at status quo in a new light as well. Whereas I used to abhor it, I now see it as part of a cycle. Even as we implement a change, we hope that there will be a period where that change becomes a way of life. And, isn’t that part of “status quo”?
In moving away from this dichotomy between change and status quo, I realize that what I most enjoy is the continuous learning and growing that comes from new knowledge, experiences and reflection. Thus, I will continue to push against rigidity in status quo for that causes stagnation. It is important to see status quo as part of a cycle whereupon we will be faced with a change at some point. The opportunity for change comes when we reflect upon the knowledge and experience we gain during the status quo and realize, “X must change for us to move ahead and grow”. When we begin to do so, we build our ability to flex and adapt. One of my many favorite quotes to reflect this is from Charles Darwin:
“It is not the strongest who survive but those who are most adaptable.”
Our ongoing adaptability leads us toward sustainable growth. Sustainable growth is ongoing, continuously adaptive and responsive to the needs of people, the planet and profitability. Sustainable growth requires thinking and acting differently to develop new and innovative solutions to the ever-changing needs of the market and world economic conditions.
Inherent in the work of growth, change and/or transformation, it is important to ask:
- What do we want? What does that look like?
- What do we know? What don’t we know?
- What does this knowledge or experience mean for us?
- What would we like to change?
- What do we need to let go of?
- What do we need to hold on to?
The work of growth, change and/or transformation also requires authentic leaders with passion, courage, conviction and vision to lead their organizations forward.
I look forward to the opportunity to work with you to drive sustainable growth in your organization through innovation, change and leadership.
